Calibrating the Cepheid Period–Wesenheit Relation in the Gaia Bands Using Galactic Open-cluster Cepheids

چکیده

Abstract Establishing the period–Wesenheit relation requires independent and accurate distance measurements of classical Cepheids (DCEPs). The precise distances provided by associated open clusters independently calibrate relations DCEPs. 51 DCEPs with are compiled using constraints five-dimensional astrometric information. By directly Gaia data release 3 parallaxes, in G band is calibrated as W G = ( − 3.06 ± 0.11 stretchy="false">) log P + 2.96 0.10 . Compared results derived from adopting DCEP parallaxes or moduli, Wesenheit magnitudes based on cluster-averaged exhibit a tighter period. Besides, there systematic offset between observed absolute distant open-cluster their fitted magnitudes. After considering parallax zeropoint correction, can be reduced, yielding probably better ${W}_{G}=(-2.94\pm 0.12)\mathrm{log}P+(-2.93\pm 0.11)$?> 2.94 0.12 2.93

The Cepheid Instability Strip in the GAIA Era

We present recent results concerning distance determinations based on the two most popular primary distance indicators, namely classical Cepheids and RR Lyrae. We discuss the problems affecting the Cepheid distance scale, and in particular the dependence of fundamental Period-Luminosity (PL) and Period-Luminosity-Color (PLC) relations on the metal content. The key advantages in using the K-band...

The galactic double – mode Cepheids

By considering the least–squares fits of the double–mode Cepheid light curves discussed in Paper I we defined their properties by their Fourier parameters and generalized phase differences G i,j. When plotting the latter quantities as a function of the respective order, the second order terms are confined in the region just below 3/2π; the third order terms have π/2 < G i,j < π, the fourth orde...

The Cepheid Period - Luminosity Relation ( The Leavitt Law ) at Mid - Infrared Wavelengths : III . Cepheids in NGC 6822

We present the first application of mid-infrared Period-Luminosity relations to the determination of a Cepheid distance beyond the Magellanic Clouds. Using archival IRAC imaging data on NGC 6822 from Spitzer we were able to measure single-epoch magnitudes for sixteen long-period (10 to 100-day) Cepheids at 3.6μm, fourteen at 4.5μm, ten at 5.8μm and four at 8.0μm. The measured slopes and the obs...

The Cepheid Period - Luminosity Relation ( The Leavitt Law ) at Mid - Infrared Wavelengths : IV . Cepheids in IC 1613

We present mid-infrared Period-Luminosity relations for Cepheids in the Local Group galaxy IC 1613. Using archival IRAC imaging data from Spitzer we were able to measure single-epoch magnitudes for five, 7 to 50-day, Cepheids at 3.6 and 4.5μm. When fit to the calibrating relations, measured for the Large Magellanic Cloud Cepheids, the data give apparent distance moduli of 24.29±0.07 and 24.28±0...
